AI and Humanity – Who Is Designing the Future?

This flagship public forum explores the foundational questions raised by human–AI collaboration:
Who defines the objectives of AI systems? How are values embedded into governance frameworks? And how can democratic accountability be preserved as AI systems gain autonomy and influence?

The forum convenes voices from law, philosophy, technology, and the social sciences to examine AI governance beyond compliance, focusing instead on legitimacy, responsibility, and long-term societal impact.

Location: Ateneo
Format: Public forum with interdisciplinary panels
Status: Ongoing flagship initiative

What the Forum Does

Connect research with public debate

The Forum translates research insights into accessible discussions that engage institutions, professionals, and the wider public.

Foster interdisciplinary exchange

Each forum is designed to bridge disciplinary boundaries, creating space for dialogue between legal theory, technological practice, and social analysis.

Support adaptive governance thinking

Rather than promoting fixed solutions, the Forum encourages governance models that remain responsive as AI systems and institutional contexts evolve.

Flagship Forum

Forum activities include:

  • Public roundtables and moderated debates

  • Thematic panels linked to ongoing research programs

  • Collaborative sessions with academic and institutional partners

Topics range from responsibility and agency in AI systems to democratic oversight, regulatory experimentation, and the ethics of automation in public decision-making.

Looking Ahead

Future editions of the Forum will expand international participation and deepen collaboration with institutions working at the intersection of AI, law, and public governance.

By creating a sustained space for reflection and dialogue, the Nyåkern Nexus Forum aims to contribute to governance frameworks that are not only effective, but also legitimate, transparent, and socially grounded.
